First Place – Senior Division
Addison Hoffstrom is a sophomore who enjoys reading, writing, art, fashion, and music. In her free time, she likes exploring new hobbies such as baking, nail art, and journaling. She has a ton of pets that she loves dearly, a wandering imagination, and a habit of doodling stars on worksheets. Her story is The Birth of the Wind and her sponsor teacher is Heather Hollands, at Gwinn High School.
Second Place
Grace Dee is a sophomore at Calumet High School. She’s been writing since she was in fourth grade, and is in the process of writing a novel. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, reading, figure skating, and playing the piano. Her story is Skies and her teacher sponsor is Julie Antilla.
Third Place
Gabrielle O’Connor is a senior in high school at Copper Country Christian School and is involved in basketball, soccer and dancing. In her excess time she enjoys creating art, writing, reading and basking in God’s great outdoors. Her story is The Traveler’s Son and her sponsoring teacher is Mrs. Judy Chizek.
First Place – Jr. Division
Kya Gleason is a seventh grader from DeTour Area Schools with a passion for storytelling. Having discovered her love for writing while crafting imaginative tales during her elementary school years, she believes that storytelling has the power to connect people and evoke emotions and wants to write books that leave a lasting impact. Her story is Starlight and Jennifer Livingston is the sponsoring teacher.
Second Place
Gwenyth Skoog is a 7th grader at Washington Middle School in Calumet, MI. She enjoys extracurricular activities including Science Olympiad, basketball, softball, volleyball, and ballet. Gwen is a student at Superior School of Dance and spends most of her time on ballet. She also enjoys playing the trumpet and reading. Some of her favorite books include The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and the Divergent series. Her story is Breaking B-3 and Callie Rastello is her faculty sponsor.
Third Place
Jemmalee Maleport is an 8th grader at JKL Bahweting School. Her story is The Summer in June and her faculty sponsor is bald guy named Mr. Litzner. She enjoys beaches, hanging out with her best friends, painting, writing, and making fun of her teacher, Mr. Litzner.
