2018-2019

First Place

Emma Locknane was a senior at Gwinn High School when she received first place for her short story Trouble with Terrans. She enjoys hobbies such as writing, drawing, knitting, and day dreaming. Her reading genres are science fiction, fantasy, and magical realism. She has many stories of her own she is working on, and often spends her time developing characters and fictional worlds. She loves puns and cheesy jokes. The previous year she took second place, so she is not new to the winners’ circle.

Second Place

Lucy Woods’ short story Stellae took second place while she was a junior at Copper Country Christian School in Chassell, Michigan It is rare to find her not taking part in an adventure in the realms of her immense imagination, listening to music, or referencing movies. She also loves hanging out with friends, creating artwork with spray paint, and has a passion for acting.

Third Place

Kaitlin Ambuehl was a senior at Republic-Michigamme High School, when she received third place for her short story Free. She loves reading and writing different works in the fantasy genre. She is an incredibly outgoing and social young lady who loves new experiences. Kaitlin has been writing for the majority of her life because she finds it to be a fantastic way to express her creativity and to relieve stress.
